INDONESIA FISHERMAN MANNING AGENTS ASSOCIATION (IFMA) or in Indonesian language called is Asosiasi Perusahaan Pengawakan Pelaut Perikanan Indonesia, was formed and established in Jakarta, on Thursday 20 August 2009 with the Notarial Deed number : 47 dated 20 August 2009 made by Notary R. Johanes Sarwono, SH., which has approval from the Minister of Law and Human Rights with Decree of the Minister of Law and Human Rights number : AHU-57.AH.01.06.Year 2010 dated 14 May 2010.
The establishment of IFMA was driven by 6 companies engaged in recruiting and placing crew members on fishing vessels, namely
- PT. Dwidaya Eka Lestari,
- PT. Surya Mitra Bahari,
- PT. Karlwei Multi Global,
- PT. Anugrah Bahari Pacific,
- PT. Wahana Samudera Indonesia, and
- PT. Wanda Jaya Amertha
IFMA’s founding spirit is to “Membangun Profesionalitas, Solidaritas dan Persatuan (To Build Professionalism, Solidarity and Unity)”, which aims to:
- Provide protection and guidance to all members in carrying out their business.
- Support members’ efforts to grow and develop with a mutually beneficial spirit of togetherness.
- Contribute to developing Indonesian human resources (Seafarers), especially in recruitment and placement services for Indonesian seafarers and crew members to foreign ships abroad
- Entering the international job market, by providing qualified and competent ship crew according to the needs of ship owners while still prioritizing aspects of optimal protection for ship crew.
- Become a government partner in overcoming various industrial relations problems in the fisheries sector and expanding employment opportunities abroad.
IFMA members are Indonesian legal entity companies that carry out business in the field of recruitment and placement of Indonesian fishing seafarers on fishing vessels overseas (international) and domestically (nationally) which are accepted in accordance with the provisions of IFMA’s Articles of Association and Bylaws.
IFMA is lead by a EXECUTIVE BOARD consisting of :
- A General Chairman,
- A Vice General Chairman,
- A Secretary General,
- A Treasurer, and
- Three Heads of Department
IFMA and all its member companies are committed to:
- Comply with and implement all national and international regulations related to employment in the maritime industry, deep-sea fisheries industry.
- Provide maximum protection for all seafarers and crew members who are recruited and placed.
- Prioritize professionalism, transparency and accountability in all organizational activities.
