Since the INDONESIA FISHERMAN MANNING AGENTS ASSOCIATION (IFMA) was founded on August 20th, 2009, IFMA has received a good appreciation and respect from its partners, all because of the fully trust and support of all member companies.
Even though initially IFMA had members of ± 50 companies engaged in the business of recruiting and placement of crew on foreign fishing vessels, along with time and organizational dynamics, currently IFMA has only 14 company members. However, over the last 14 years, IFMA has struggled to realize itself as a modern organization that is professional, independent, transparent and acceptable to all partners, including the government, international institutions, trade unions and fellow company associations.
With the spirit of “To Build Professionalism, Solidarity and Unity”, IFMA and all its member companies are committed to:
- Comply with and implement all national and international regulations related to employment in the maritime industry, specifically marine fisheries industry.
- Provide maximum protection for all Seafarers and/or crew members who are recruited and placed.
- Prioritize professionalism, transparency and accountability in all organizational activities.
To become a trusted association/organization, IFMA will continue to improve and perfect the management and internal administration of the organization and be actively involved in contributing to various forums discussing national/international regulations relating to the interests of members and protection for Seafarers and crew members recruited and placed by it the companies member.
IFMA in the past and present reflects the history of an organization that has been steadfast in being hit by various waves in the recruitment and placement services industry for crews members in the shipping and fisheries sectors. And I am sure that IFMA will continue to be successful in the future and play an even more important role.
